Dear Quonnie Friends,

Do you remember the first time you visited Quonochontaug?  It probably didn’t take long to realize this special place, we call “Quonnie”, was unique in its splendor, folklore and history.  The Quonochontaug Historical Society (QHS) was founded in the 1990’s by residents who wanted to preserve our historical legacy for future generations.

We have made much progress but, with your help, there is much more we can accomplish.  With a small group of dedicated Board members and other volunteers, we are proud of these major achievements in 2018:

  • Expansion of the collection in the QHS Archives Center which resides in the Quonochontaug Grange.  The Center now maintains an extensive compendium of artifacts including photos, videos, oral histories and relics from Quonnie’s past.
  • Further development of our technical capabilities to manage our collections through state-of-the-art hardware and software programs.
  • Hosted 5 summer/winter programs where over 350 participants were treated to a range of topics concerning the history of this exceptional shore line  community.
  • Entered into a partnership with the Providence Journal and Pediment Publishing to publish a hard-cover book in 2019 highlighting the history of the RI area.  QHS is one of he few local historical societies to be asked to participate!

Please join us in supporting these important community efforts by becoming a 2019 member.  In addition to the satisfaction of making a difference in preserving our heritage, members also enjoy the following benefits:

  • Guided Access to QHS archives, upon request.
  • Advance notice of special events and programs.
  • Periodic QHS Artifact Spotlight email blasts.
  • As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, all donations to QHS are tax deductible.

In addition, we are excited to announce that all 2019 members will receive the inaugural QHS car window sticker!  Complete the enclosed form and use the envelope provided to mail it along with your check.  Make your pledge today and your new car sticker will be on its way!

Be a part of Quonnie history!

Most sincerely,

Bill Wilson
