Dear Quonnie Friends,

Someone once commented that once your toes touch the beautiful Quonnie sand, you’ll never want to leave.  The Quonochontaug Historical Society (QHS) was founded in the 1990’s by residents who wanted to preserve the splendor and folklore of this unique and special place for future generations.

We’ve come a long way – but there is so much more we want to accomplish.  We are proud of these major achievements in 2019 from a small group of dedicated Board members and volunteers:

    •    Continued to expand and catalog the extensive compendium of artifacts from
Quonnie’s past in the QHS Archives Center which resides in the Quonochontaug
         Grange.

    •    Hosted six summer/winter programs on a wide range of topics of interest to our
members.  Videos of past programs can be found on our website.

    •    Continued partnership with the Providence Journal for their second book “Rhode
Island Memories Volume II”.  We are so proud that QHS is one of the few local
historical societies to be asked to participate!

    •    Considerable enhancement to the QHS website, including additional content.

    •    Initiated a concerted effort to obtain oral histories from Quonnie residents.

We are sad to announce that on December 18, 2019 we lost Hope Andrews, an important member of our association.  Hope helped shaped our journey and, due to her efforts, was named a Director Emeritus.  Hope will be sorely missed and will always be remembered fondly for her guidance and support.

Please join us in supporting these important community efforts by becoming a 2020 member.  As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, donations to QHS are tax deductible.

In addition, all 2020 members will receive the new QHS car window sticker which depicts one of Bob Petrone’s beautiful photos of Quonnie!  Complete the enclosed form and use the envelope provided to mail it along with your check.

Be a part of Quonnie history!

Most sincerely,

Joan E. Lawlor
